For this project, I was tasked with creating a zine centered around a political or social cause that is important to me.
I chose to explore the issue of food waste in America — a crisis underscored by alarming data metrics that deserve greater public attention. My research focused on how systemic inefficiencies, particularly within the grocery industry, contribute significantly to the problem.
To communicate this message, I selected the format of a receipt—a medium deeply associated with food consumption and commerce. By using a familiar, everyday object, I aimed to highlight how consumer habits and industry practices intersect to fuel waste. The zine features concise data visualizations, clear explanations, and practical advice — distilling the most critical information on food waste in an accessible and thought-provoking way.
